Looking at the gorse fire on Bray Head this evening from all the way over in Kindlestown, we’re reminded instantly of Father Dougal having to be told about the subtle but crucial different between small and far away…
It may not look like much from here, but those flames are high enough right now to catch your average lazy
pigeon by surprise.
Two units from Greystones Fire Brigade are currently at the scene.
What is surprising is the fact that this would appear to be the first gorse fire on Bray Head this year. The last one we reported on took place in August 2016. Could it really be that long?
Here’s hoping this is a one-off, given the spate of fires last year, all clearly asshole-made. And this evening was hardly the result of a scorching sun beating down on dry heather.
Thankfully, no reports yet of anyone being hurt. That might change, of course, if the person responsible is caught.
