The gang’s all here…

ure, what else would you be doing on a wet Wednesday afternoon in Greystones…?

A chance to give that big screen and surround sound another test run, there was a very merry gang from Rehabcare sitting pretty – and dry – in The Whale today.

A fine day out, despite the rain, everyone was here to watch Alan Parker’s hit adaptation of Roddy Doyle’s The Commitments, about a group of northern soul brothers and sisters who just about made it.

There were whoops and hollers, and plenty of shrieks of laughter as the language once again turned Dublin blue, and the band onscreen belted out the likes of Mustang Sally, Try A Little Tenderness and Chain Of Fools.

With The Greystones Film Club currently in the process of setting up a new website for a series of screenings over the coming months down at The Whale – details to follow shortly, kids – it was great to witness the sheer joy today of going to the movies.

It’ll be like The Ormonde reborn. Only, you know, with a bar. And really comfy seats. And a non-sticky floor.
