Funding For Swimmers Showers At South Beach & Kilcoole

At the latest meeting of the Greystones Municipal District, Councillors agreed a €15,000 investment for improvement works at the Upper Green in Charlesland and a €20,000 provision for basic showers/changing facilities for swimmers at Greystones South Beach and at Kilcoole Beach.

Cllr. Orla Finn and Cllr. Tom Fortune strongly support both of these projects and warmly welcome the funding allocation.

Cllr Orla Finn stated, ” We have received numerous requests for the provision of outdoor showers at both Greystones and Kilcoole beaches. Outdoor showers offer a variety of benefits including providing a opportunity to engage with nature, they are great for your skin, outdoor showers often use less water than a traditional indoor shower and outdoor showers are a convenient way to clean off sand without tracking it into your car or house. Outdoor showers are especially useful for those that go straight from swimming into a work environment. In coastal areas, an outdoor shower is considered a very useful and functional upgrade.”

Cllr. Tom Fortune added, “I welcome the additional funding that has been allocated for improvement works at the Upper Green in Charlesland. Funding for the refurbishment and development of this existing Green will ensure that the Green can continue to be used by everyone and especially by all of the local children who want to play sports on the field.”
