iven just how badly Greystones needs a service station on the Charlesland end of town, it hardly seems necessary for Cairn Homes to bury their latest planning application in the town’s no.14 newspaper, The Irish Daily Star.

Mentioned briefly in the late April plans to develop the remaining 14 acres of their Charlesland jigsaw, it’s hard to imagine anyone would object to a one-stop shop for fuel, EV charging, grub, off licence, coffee dock and outdoor play area for the kiddies.

Hey, even a McDonald’s would work in that spot. If kids are willing to trek up that hill, they’ve earned themselves a McNugget.

A petrol filling station/service area and electric vehicle charging hub, and includes: the construction of a petrol filling station, including 3 no. dual fuel pump islands and associated forecourt infrastructure/ underground storage tanks. Provision of a car wash facility.

Development of car parking spaces, including accessible parking bays, EV Charging areas and associated circulation areas. Creation of a new vehicular access to the site from the R761, together with alterations and improvements to the adjoining main road network, including all necessary signage, road markings, and traffic management measures. Installation of advertising signage including a freestanding totem pole.

Construction of a single-storey building with a gross floor area of approximately c.635.7sqm, comprising: a retail area with Off Licence (c.100 sq.m), two food preparation and concession areas (c.125.9 sq.m), a coffee dock (c.50.3 sq.m) customer toilet facilities, Indoor seating area (c.105.2sqm) provision of an outdoor seating area and a children’s play area. Ancillary development including service areas, kitchen areas, staff facilities, storage, plant areas, refuse storage, landscaping, boundary treatments, lighting, and all associated site works.
