Get Some Free Heritage Into Ya!

Glendalough gets busy

eritage Ireland have announced a new scheme that gives the public free entry to Office of Public Works Heritage Sites on the first Wednesday of each month.

Tickets will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, and online booking will not be available.

Normal conditions of admission apply, of course, and the free offer is open to ‘individual visitors and families‘. I guess that rules out sly package tours.

When it comes to not-too-long-a-drive from Greystones, we’re talking the Glendalough Visitor Centre, the National Botanic Gardens in Kilmacurragh (always free), the Dwyer McAllister Cottage in Knockanarrigan (eh, free), the National Botanic Gardens (also free), the Hill of Tara in Navan (free all year round), the John F. Kennedy Arboretum in New Ross and Phoenix Park (yep, really free, baby).

So, that’s really just the Glendalough and JFK that are changing their charges every first Wednesday, but, hey…
