Greystones CFR Kick Ass At Respond Conference

ure, isn’t she only one of our favourite people in the whole of Greystones…

And not just because she can make yummy pancakes in about 15 seconds flat.

Man, those home defibrillators are just the bomb.

No, Margaret is one-of-a-kind for that great big kind heart of hers, and today, the rest of the country realised just how delightful and de lovely Ms Duggan is when she became the recipient of the prestigious Dr. Geoff King Award at this afternoon’s annual Respond conference.

The Dr. Geoff King Award was created by the Respond committee to remember the good doctor’s incredible contribution to Community First Responders, and is given to those who have gone well above and beyond the call of duty in strengthening the chain of survival.

Basically, this award makes Margaret Elvis in the first responders community. For a whole year.

Held at the Mullingar Park Hotel, the annual Respond conference featured a series of presentations, workshops and network events, and is supported by the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC), the Irish Heart Foundation (IHF) and the HSE’s National Ambulance Service (NAS).

With 50 new CFR schemes registered since 2016, and up to 150 CFR groups currently linked up with the HSE National Ambulance Service, the attendance was higher than ever this year. And so was the competition for those rockin’ awards.

Naturally, Greystones came out smiling. To add to Margaret’s major win, the mighty Keith O’Brien won the top community first responder for the third year in a row, whilst Paul Keogh and Caroline Bolger also made the Top 3.

Congrats to the entire Greystones crew, not only on this big, big night of wins, but also for the simple fact that you’re doing all this simply to save lives. Greystones lives at that. 

Which, we all know, are the most precious. And valuable.
