Lots of good people to thank for this wonderful day.
Boomshackalacka! That was a fab agus groovy Christmas Lights launch!
The weather! The choir! The peoples! The freebies! The Kids Fancy Dress! The Lovely Priests Competition! The New Lights! Santa! And, most importantly, Mrs Bridie Mooney!
Yep, we couldn’t have asked for better with the switching on of this year’s Christmas Lights. From a ridiculously sunny day (in late November!) to the arrival of Santa on his horse-drawn sleigh just as our new lights twinkled so wonderfully bright, sure, there was a smile on pretty much everyone’s faces.
Even those cranky twin sisters.
Lots of good people to thank for this wonderful day.
First and foremost, of course, the Greystones Christmas Committee – Myra, Kay, Grainne, Stephen, Elaine, Eleanor, Ross, Nicola, Tom, Jennifer, Adam, Marlena, Gerry, Dave…
The Kids Fancy Dress judges Ciara, Mathilde & Marlena, and the winners, of course – Holly Cassidy, Mark O’Toole, Bonnie Condron, Adam & Alex Daly, Sophie Costello, Leon Kelly, Roisin & Laragh Coughlan and Laura Devlin.
Let’s hear it too for the man with the stage, Mike Duggan, the man with the lights, Troy Gillett, the man with the video camera, Robin J. Kavanagh (see his incredible video of the day here) and the happiest man in the park, John Hickey, who took all these wonderful shots.
A big shout-out too, to the newly-formed Greystones 2020, pulling together to join the dots for cool events in the town, just like this one, and to Ian Mullen and Ross Print, for doing all those flying Santa shop posters and Pablo Posters for doing the groovy white horse ones. Oh, and let’s not forget our elves for the day – Eloise Manning, Georgia Manning, Pippy, Alex Barre, Rueben Barre, Hip Hop Kevin, Holly Lucy, Rachel Lucy, Isla Roberts and that big eejit, Grace Leonard.
An even Bigger Thanks to Marina Village & the Bridgedale brigade – sparked by the good work of Ross McParland along with Ivan Gaites at Sherry Fitz – for saving Greystones Christmas Lights this year!
Finally, thanks to the real Santa for choosing Greystones. And sending his brother, Fred, to Bray fro their Christmas Lights ceremony. Fair play.
We’ve published the highlights here – you can catch the full 2016 Christmas selection box right about here. You can explore more wonderful John Hickey pics on his flickr account right here. Oh, and here’s Robin J. Kavanagh’s wonderful video of the day too.
