And last night, Greystones for Palestine rocked the Plaza with their Christmas fundraising concert, welcoming such local artists the hard-to-spot Fiachna Ó Braonáin, Stick N’ Poke, Gavin Murphy and various other chancers.
For the organisers, it was a show of solidarity with the people of Palestine, Greystones paying its respects to the lives lost to Israel’s ongoing genocide. For everyone there, it was also an opportunity to let their hair down. On a feckin’ Wednesday!
Fionna Saintraint, coordinator for Greystones for Palestine said, “After nearly two years of genocide, the humanitarian need on the ground has never been more urgent. Despite the announcement of a ceasefire, Israeli forces continue to commit war crimes in both Gaza and the West Bank, and aid continues to be severely restricted. We are therefore asking participants to donate to our fundraiser, all of which will be split between Gaza Go Bragh and the TEA Collective.”
Gaza Go Bragh is a humanitarian organisation providing urgent support to displaced families across the Gaza Strip. Their work includes delivering water, food, shelter and essential supplies while supporting local partners and community leaders to create tailored, sustainable responses for those most affected. The TEA Collective is a volunteer group that verifies and supports individual and family fundraisers in Gaza to ensure donations reach people safely and directly.
They carry out ID and social media verification, offer training on effective fundraising, and collaborate with trusted local NGOs to distribute aid, water and supplies throughout the Strip.
With over €2,000 raised, the organisers extended their heartfelt thanks to the artists and volunteers who make putting events like these together possible, whilst we’ll give our usual thanks and praise to the rockin’ Mr McGowan, who once again created a record of a fine Greystones moment forever.
