Greystones Man With €250,000 Of Drugs Sentenced

Greystones man who was found with almost €250,000 worth of cocaine and heroin has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison.

Graham Anderson (40) of Charlesland Grove pleaded guilty at Wicklow Circuit Criminal Court to two charges of the possession of drugs for sale and supply on June 13th, 2024.

Anderson had been identified as a person of interest by the local drugs detective unit, leading to the gardaí stopping a taxi he was a passenger in.

Detective Sergeant Gerard Brennan explained that a quantity of cocaine and heroin along with just over €1,000 in cash was found in Anderson’s backpack at the scene.

A follow-up search of the accused’s home unearthed further large quantities of various drugs, as well as material for the bulking up of cocaine, weighing scales and cash to the amount of €11,800.

The total value of drugs discovered totalled €244,331, with the cocaine standing at €130,271 and the heroin €93,834.

Det Sgt Brennan informed the court that Anderson was under instructions to deliver the drugs to unnamed third parties. It was also pointed out that he had 20 previous convictions, most of them for road traffic offences.

Judge John Martin accepted that Anderson – who has been housed in a drugs-free landing in prison since January 2025 – had made “valiant efforts” at rehabilitation, and his sentence had been “watered down” as a consequence.

Nonetheless, stated Judge Martin, he was “an essential cog in the wheel” of the drug trade.

Sentenced to six years in prison, the final 18 months were suspended for a period of two and a half years on condition that on his release, Anderson places himself under the supervision of the Probation Service for the duration.

Judge Martin also directed that Anderson should attend recommended addiction treatment services and to provide clear drug urine tests when requested.
