reystones once again has walked away with major gongs at this year’s Irish Restaurant Awards.

Held tonight, the Leinster finals was, as always, a tough category, especially if you happen to have your wonderful eatery sitting in that Wicklow category.

Where there are so many wonderful eateries.

So, it is with great pride and a dash of smugness that we congratulate Chakra on picking up Best Restaurant and Daata for picking up Best Customer Service for Wicklow tonight.

Also winning for the county was Wicklow Heather Restaurant & House, which won Best Hotel & Guesthouse Restaurant, Best Casual Dining went to The Enniskerry Inn, the Wicklow Pub Of The Year went to The Dying Cow, Best Newcomer was Mortimers, the Best World Cuisine went to Bray’s Pink Salt Indian Restaurant, Best Café went to Russborough Tea Rooms, the Best Wine Experience went to Sika Powerscourt, Best Restaurant Manager went to John Condren of The Old Ship, Best Emerging Irish Cuisine went to Hollywood Inn, Best Free From went to Vital Health Café, Best Sustainable Practice went to The Strawberry Tree Restaurant, and Local Food Hero went to Pamela Walsh and Brett Stephenson of Wicklow Way Wines.

Held at the fancy pants Knightsbrook Hotel in Trim, County Meath, the Irish Restaurant Awards are one of the country’s most respected foodie love-ins. And one of the most lucrative for the organisers, we reckon, given just how many hopefuls pay up each year to attend their smogarsbord of award events across the country.

But hey, congrats to all the Wicklow winners, and contenders, but mostly to our local awards magnets Chakra and Daata.

Because they’re sexier than everyone else at the Irish Restaurant Awards tonight.
