Greystones’ Yummiest Ice Cream Is Served By…

The voting got pretty hot and heavy there for a while, but, hey, talk about icing the competition…

Actually, it was pretty darn close for most of August’s search for Greystones finest purveyor of 99s.

Early on, it was all down to Joe Sweeney’s, then Spendlove’s pushed ahead, but it was the dark chocolate horse Something Nice that came sprinting from behind in the past few days to pretty much run away with the competition.

Of course, as any kid will tell you, there’s no such thing as a bad ice cream, especially on a sunny day by the sea, in a town like Greystones. So, a 21-cone salute to all of the town’s ice cream merchants, including those chirping, chiming little vans who always like to head up to Kindlestown Park whenever the rain comes.

Because the kids up here are made of sterner stuff. And their parents won’t be letting them back in the house until Fair City is over.

Biggest congrats, of course, go to Peter and Susan, and all the gang down at Something Nice. You’ve got a lot of big fans out there. And they’re getting bigger every time they squeeze through those double-doors…
