t was somewhat inevitable that little Julie-Rose was going to grow up to be a puppeteer…

All those years, going from theatre to theatre, helping her dad carry his suitcases full of funny and wild characters, pretty much cemented the path.

“To the point that I never thought that I wouldn’t be a puppeteer too,” smiles Julie-Rose today. “It just seemed the natural thing to do. And seeing my dad have so much fun, and seeing all the joy that he brought to people with his puppets, how could I resist…?”

How indeed. Now heading up her own McCormick Puppet Theatre, the Kilcoole-based Julie Rose has spent her life entertaining kids, creating her own puppets, and generally perfecting her craft.

Which may have something to do with the lady and her cuddly friends being so in demand.

In the meantime, we caught up with Julie-Rose and some of her little friends, to try and find out who really pulls the strings…
