nitially, this year’s search for the finest restaurant or cafĂ© around here began
to shape up to be a two-horse race.
Fittingly enough.
Unsurprisingly, there was a surge of love for newcomer Rise At The Cove, the little café that could charming the knickerbockers off all and sundry since it opened at Carraig Eden on October 29th last year.

Rise shines…
The second horse proved to be The Horse, it’s Bellevue Restaurant proving to be a popular chomping ground for more and more people since its recent rebirth with a menu that dared to go far beyond two sausages in a baked potato in a sea of cold Bachelors’ beans.

Bellevue takes it outside
It was during the final week of March’s vote that the Bellevue gang pulled slightly ahead of Gavin and co down at Rise. And then, in the final days, the feckers romped across the finishing line.
Said the Bellevue’s head chef, Philip Moran, “We’re delighted to receive the award at at a point when we’re really just getting started“, whilst restaurant manager Mark Southcott added, “Our customers really seem to like the choice of spaces we have and the variety in our menus. We’re constantly learning, trying new things, seeing what people like. And it seems to be working…”
