There was ne’er a gasp heard in the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre on Wednesday night when The Happy Pear were announced as the winners of this year’s Cookbook Of The Year.
Their second publication, The World of The Happy Pear, sold like hot, organic, gluten-free coconut cupcakes, and the fact that the Flynn twins’ offering also garnered many a rave review made it the favourite in its category on the night.
We’re still having trouble telling these ugly doppelgangers apart, so, we’ll just say the one with the little Elvis curl accepted the award because the one without the curl is off in Italy. Galavanting. Or taking The Happy Pear’s plans for world domination one step further.
You can catch the Bord Gáis Energy Irish Book Awards on RTE One at 11.20pm tonight. Be interesting to see, as our boy exits doing his hand stands, where he holds that award.
