Having lifted the roof on this year’s Christmas Lights ceremony earlier in the day, the Holyhead Male Voice Choir teamed up with Newtown’s boys later that evening for a special joint concert.
And it turned out to be something of a giant concert, as these two formidable choirs took the Greystones Rugby Club crowd through a magical and undeniably moving repertoire.
Playing support early on was the Magee Family Folk Band, setting the festive scene perfectly as the club filled up, and those all-important vocal chords were warmed up backstage.
It was good to see Santa Claus letting his beard down too, after a hard day’s night wowing Greystones’ kids in Burnaby Park.
Greystones is lucky to have twinned with Holyhead back in 2012, given the great people, the mighty fine close harmony singing, the Holyhead Santa, and all that lipsmacking duty free for Kathleen Kelleher.
Here’s hoping that, beyond the Holyhead gang’s regular visits to our shores, this male voice choir make Greystones a Christmas tradition on their calendar.
And thanks again to GG snapper John McGowan, who had a long and busy day, taking over 1,000 photos in the process. Legend.
