hey are, of course, beautiful, intelligent and beguiling creatures of the sea.
And occasionally, boat owners can be dang lucky too.
Take Ed and his buddies, out for a Sunday paddle from Greystones towards Bray, and naturally taking the very long way round.
Three miles out to sea, they were joined by another gang of friends out for a Sunday paddle. Namely, 8 common dolphins.
“And they just came up alongside our boat, and joined us,” says Ed, capturing the moment on video here. “It was amazing, to see them sweep around in front, and back to the side, and then on ahead once again…”
Yep, these guys really have that swimming thing down. Given that we haven’t seen Ron Seal around here for a little while, could this be the start of a whole new beautiful friendship for Greystones?
More importantly, could it be a dirty big money-spinner, a la Dingle and their deserter dolphin, Fungie..?
Either way, what a sight to behold. Here’s hoping we see their like again. And again. And ka-ching.
