Greystones Archaelogical & Historical Soceity celebrated their 30th birthday this afternoon with a rather grand lunch over at Druids Glen Hotel.
And there was plenty to celebrate at this special Christmas gathering, given that the mighty GAHS has brought much of our town’s history into the light over the past three decades.
During that time, the gang hve produced 9 journals, organised approximately 30 three-day spring tours and 90 summer Sunday outings, hosted more than 175 talks, and hosted far too many special events to mention, including the recent unveiling of the Suffragette memorial plaque at Greystones harbour.
Is it any wonder these mighty time travellers needed an afternoon to put their feet up and raise a glass or two? And gobble up a slice of that fine Naomi Manek-made birthday cake. Yum!
You can find out what the Greystones Archaelogical & Historical Society have planned for the new year, and beyond, by heading over to their official website right about here. And don’t forget to pick up their latest journal, baby!
