hen it comes to reaching out and lending a helping hand, Greystones is one hell of a town…
When there’s work to be done for the greater good, the whole community pulls together, from the mighty Greystones Cancer Support to a hamster escaping from the back garden.
And that community spirit was out in force – and covered in sunscreen – today at the GAA Grounds.
Those fine Éire Óg people generously gave over their home to the South Beach Playground committee for their Family Fun Day.
As well as being a launch for the fundraising campaign that hopes to see our threadbare playground transformed into a top-of-the-range, Grade-A outdoor fun emporium within the year, the day boasted all the usual family fun activities (games, facepainting, live animals, arguing over one more treat) you’d expect whilst also being a showcase for upcoming summer camps in the area.
Of the latter, good to see the likes of old hands such as Wild Mountain Equestrian, Knockeevin Montessori and Happy Feet Soccer Academy rubbing shoulders with such new kids on the block as Urban Dance Academy and the Greystones Film Camp.
We caught up with that eejit Jennifer Whitmore, one of the ringleaders behind the South Beach Playground campaign, for a quick chat, whilst below, you can taste all the fun of the fair.Â

Are there more photos from today? I know my son was picture was taken a few times, and I’d love to see them.
Hi there – have a second batch due to be posted tomorrow. Two photographers, and we didn’t want to post too many at the one time. Hopefully, you’re obviously highly photogenic offspring will be part of that second batch. If not, you may want to reconsider his look.
Cheers
