It’s A Family Affair

We gets a little stupidly busy around here at GG HQ, and sometimes, the good guys get lost in the mix.

And the Greystones Family Resource Centre is certainly one of those good guys. One of those really, really good guys.

Formed in 2002, this one-stop shop for the local community looks after those who are having a little trouble looking after themselves. Through low-cost counselling, play therapy, bereavement programmes, domestic violence support, community arts projects, horticulture & gardening programmes, women’s group, and so much more, over the past 15 years, the Greystones Family Resource Centre has helped hundreds of people get themselves back on their feet.

From now on, we’ll be keeping in constant touch with the great people down there, now that we’ve finally made the short trip down to their Burnaby Court HQ for a quick video chat. Having grown and grown over the years, the GRFC plainly needs a bigger space to administer its much-needed community TLC.

Here’s hoping Simon Harris – who has visited the centre twice in recent weeks – and those with their fingers on the purse will help the Greystones Family Resource Centre find that bigger, stronger, better space so they can help even more people around here.

In the meantime, we spoke with Aoibhinn McCloy about the work the centre has been doing, and the work that lays ahead for this crucial facility in the town…
