rom the very first moment we met Jade McCann, back in March 2016, we knew this girl was special.

Already telling it like it is through her songs and then, later, on Not Another Beauty Blog, Jade brought a brutal honesty and an infectious self-belief in everything she did.

Talking to Jade again two years later, her circumstances may have changed, but that incredible fighting spirit remained. Having been diagnosed with cancer in March last year, that condition had turned terminal by July. And Jade had been quietly raging against the dying light ever since, never giving up hope of finding a miracle cure, and never shying away from telling her story with that searing, insightful frankness.

Is it any wonder the girl ended up with over 60,000 Instagram followers?

As the battle continued, the town rallied, with 50 scooters descending upon Greystones harbour after a fundraising rally, and Jade’s good friend, Sharon, hosting a series of fun events, including this year’s Glitter Ball.

Last Christmas, Jade herself released a haunting version of the old Irish favourite, The Parting Glass, which we’ve included below.

Finally free of all that pain, and all that fighting, Jade will remain an inspiration to us all. And our hearts go out to the McCann family – parents Anthony and Kim, and brother Eóin – at this time…
