Jason Statham Gets A Little Enniskerry Action

aving lived through the possibly lucrative but undeniably disappointing Disenchanted, the residents of Enniskerry will no doubt be hoping that Jason Statham’s new movie there will kick ass.

Which is generally what every Jason Statham movie does. A lot.

The as-yet-untitled movie is being shot across Ireland and the UK, with Statham being joined by the likes of Bill Nighy and Naomi Ackie, all under the watchful eye of director Ric Roman Waugh. The plot is set on a remote Scottish island, with Statham playing a loner who rescues a girl from the sea only to have an avalanche of, well, kick-ass action come to his door.

During the Enniskerry shoot, the 57-year-old actor popped into Poppies, the staff naturally both excited agus delighted, stating on their social media, ‘A big thank you to Jason Statham for choosing the magical village of Enniskerry for his latest blockbuster. It was an absolute pleasure‘. The café was closed on Wednesday for the shoot.

The lad did some good whilst here too, the film production making contributions to Wicklow Tidy Towns, Wicklow RNLI and the town’s Saint Patrick’s Day committee, whilst two cannons overlooking Travelahawk Beach near the town’s Black Castle are being examined and cleaned by a professional conservationist using laser cleaning technology. All thanks to the film company.

One of the only true stars to emerge out of the Guy Ritchie British gangster wave of the late 1990s, Statham is engaged to model Rosie Huntington-Whitley. Who, dammit, didn’t seem to make the Enniskerry shoot.
