Kellie McConnell

Kellie McConnell
atest press release from Greystones-Kilcoole People Before Profit,
issued on Tuesday, but we’ve been dumbass busy around here this week…
Kellie said, “I’m humbled to have been chosen as the PBP candidate and eager to get to work to identify what people see as priorities for our community. Working as a dentist, I have a particular interest and understanding of the dental and health issues affecting people. I hope to put my professional and significant campaigning experience to good use to ensure that local people have what they need to thrive and live well.
“As an eco-socialist, I am acutely aware of how important it is to cherish our local environment and biodiversity. I relish the prospect of working with communities to nurture, protect and respect our precious planet.
“From what I have heard so far, access to a home remains the number one issue affecting people – not just locally but across the country. While the Dáil is responsible for housing legislation and policy, I believe as a councillor I can certainly have an influence in local housing decisions and issues. It is shocking that so many people have little or no hope of ever owning their own home, while others are crippled by spiralling rents or lose faith in ever being able to move out of their parents’ home.
“There are many wonderful aspects to living in our community but we cannot ignore issues such as the lack of school places, transport and the worrying rise in racism. I am determined to put my campaigning work with Wicklow United Against Racism, and North Wicklow Against Genocide to good use in addressing some of the social issues I know people in my area are very worried about.
