Your local Kumon Greystones Study Centre has opened its doors, offering the unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes to local children of all ages and abilities.

With 60 years of experience, the Kumon Method of Learning pursues the potential of each individual child by developing confident, independent learners. Kumon is Ireland’s largest supplementary education provider, with over 2,500 students studying at more than 20 study centres.

Through studying the Kumon Maths and English Programmes, students grow in confidence and develop independent learning strategies, rather than being taught in the conventional sense, and become able to work out how to face new challenges by themselves. They develop the ability to learn for themselves so they do not have to rely on the knowledge of others. Kumon is an independent study programme, but students are never alone.

Simon Conway, the new instructor at the Kumon Greystones Study Centre, is delighted to have the opportunity to share the Kumon Method of Learning with his local community, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience with him. Simon will provide the guidance his students need to take their learning into their own hands, increasing their motivation to succeed and achieve, stating: “We are delighted to be bringing Kumon to the North Wicklow area. Seeing students grow in confidence and become independent learners is so rewarding and we are looking forward to working with children and parents in the local area and help them maximise their potential and foster a love of learning.”

Through Kumon’s unique method, children are able to reach an advanced level of study, often far beyond their school curriculum. The independent study skills they develop help them to approach new work, both at Kumon and at school, with confidence and to tackle any challenges they may face in life head on. Students also develop a ‘can do’ attitude, which they apply to everything they do.

Each student is given an individualised study programme that suits their needs and abilities. They start at their just-right level, and work through the programmes at their own pace. Through this approach, the Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child and develop confident, independent learners.

The Kumon Greystones Study Centre is based at Greystones Presbyterian Church, Trafalgar Road and is open on Tuesdays from 2pm to 5pm, and Saturdays from 9am to 12pm.
