And he might just get hit with an Avoca-style pay-before-you-chomp-away bill.

“I just thought I’d try something different,” says The Man Who Would Be The King. “Saw they had a lunch special, and I ordered the first thing on the menu.

“Turned out to be a lot of sushi involved. I don’t like sushi. I just discovered.”

But then, as Elvis himselvis said when he slipped away from Colonel Tom Parker for a marathon recording session with The Nashville Cats back in 1970, it’s good to try new things every now and then.

But not always, of course. “I generally love the food here,” says Alan, “but I bit off more than I could chew this time. Mainly because there’s lots of raw fish involved. And that’s not right…”

Still, Koi & Ling’s on Greystones’ main street is currently young Adamson’s perch of choice, his usual order of chips and a coke giving him all the strength and sustenance he needs for an afternoon of greeting his fans.

So, with that in mind, we had to ask, is Koi & Ling’s a restaurant truly fit for The King…?
