Social Democrats TD for Wicklow, Jennifer Whitmore, hosted a gathering of nearly 100 Greystones pupils from Greystones Education Together and Greystones Community National School at Leinster House today.

The pupils from fifth and sixth class along with their teachers were ready for the visit with loads of questions prepared to ask the Deputy and the Ushers alike.

On their arrival at Leinster House, they were taken for a tour of the houses that included a visit to the Dáil Chamber. During the Leaders Questions session in the chamber, Greystones Community National School received a special welcome by Social Democrats leader Holly Cairns.

The groups then made their way along the corridors absorbing the history towards the Seanád where Greystones Educate together received a special welcome from the Cathaoirleach.

“I was delighted to have the opportunity to host both Greystones Educate Together and Greystones Community school at Leinster House this morning. It is inspiring to see so many young faces paying an interest in their communities and local politics.”

“Politics needs to be for everyone and it’s something that young people should feel empowered to engage with.

“For too long politics has been out of reach of young people and it’s encouraging to see the interest of the students from both schools in Greystones in local issues,” concludes Whitmore.
