Newtown & Newcastle Get Some Renewal ReadiesOctober 5, 2018
A major fire at The Brady Centre – the Laker’s HQ – in Bray last night has left the social and recreational club with extensive damage.
Gone is the creche, the garage, and all of the Lakers’ vans and cars.
Greystones and Bray fire brigades battled the blaze overnight, and were finally able to quench the flames early this morning.
The chairperson of the voluntary service, Fergus Finlay, has said the fire appears to have been started by an electrical fault, going on to state that, “We are, of course, determined to get back up and running as quickly as possible.”
With a fundraising page already set up, the nearby Bray Emmett’s GAA have offered their clubhouse as a temporary home for the Lakers, whilst a wheelchair-accessible bus is also now on loan.
