Mark Barry Safe After Gaza M.I.A.

aving joined 45 other Irish delegates on a 50km walk to Gaza yesterday, friends and colleagues of Mark Barry suddenly weren’t able to reach the Greystones councillor last night.

Taking part in an international march from Al Arish to the Egyptian border, there had already been trouble at the first border, with Mark being amongst those who were forced to turn back.

The Greystones councillor had made a return to his hotel but not long after, he was unreachable.

Others on the march had been detained and, as with Barry, their passports removed. Most have been let go, including People Before Profit’s Kellie McConnell, with over 3,000 people from more than 60 countries taking part in the march.

Today delegates from Ireland and around the world were blocked, detained, abused, passports taken, held without water food or information, put on buses and dropped randomly alone around Cairo by the authorities, to stop us making a peace march to stand up and stop accepting the genocide and mass murder of the people of Gaza, but we are not to be silenced, we are proud of today.

Every elected representative in our country needs to be contacted, raise your voices in whatever way you can: protest, email, share on socials, organise events small and large.

We are all part of this civilian movement. Free Palestine!
