here were so many entries – and so, so many votes – for our annual photography
competition this year that it’s taken us, eh, two months to get around to the results.
And being a bumper year, there’s not one, not two but three winners for 2023.
Way out in lead on the pubic vote, it was Jon Pierce’s Harbour Feelings and Peter Quinn’s Delgany Dawn, two beautiful images where each captured a moment beautifully.
Both photographs were pretty much flawless, something we’ve come to expect from previous champ, Mr Pierce, and they were neck and neck right up to the finish line.
When it came to The Brian Keeley Award, the judges – including the Keeley family, of
course (grandson Cian clearly being a chip off the old Hasselblad), there was one pic that hit all the right spots for everyone, being not just a stunning shot expertly composed, but also full of life, of mischief, and, perhaps most importantly of all, it was certifiably Greystones.
Yep, John McKiernan’s I Believe I Can Fly could make you laugh; and, if you happen not to live in Greystones, very possibly cry.
