Midget Car Racing Championship

aving formed back in 1936, the Midget Racing Car Club of Ireland will be out in force this weekend in Ashford.

For on Saturday and Sunday, the fourth and fifth rounds of the Midget Racing Car Championship will be getting underway at Killiskey Crossroads.

Formed 83 years ago by Dudley Colley, Count Cyril McCormack, Cyril Murray, George Reddy and Leo Manthorpe, the goal behind The Midget Racing Car Club of Ireland was to keep this single-seater racing sport inexpensive. And therefore open to all walks of life.

This weekend’s championship event will include a BBQ on the Saturday evening, whilst any money raised will go to Wicklow Cancer Support. Donations, if desired, can be made at the field entrance or track area.

Speaking of which, the club want to give a shout-out to Ashford farmer Keith Belton for the use of his field over the weekend.
