There was much whooping and hollerin’ – and, quite possibly, gun-firing – last night at the monthy Greystones Municipal District meeting down on old Mill Road.
For last night was the night that Gerry Walsh handed in his badge and a new Caothairleach was elected.
And that Caothairleach turned out to be, as you may have guessed from the photo above, Councillor Derek Mitchell.
Who, it seems, decided to mark the momentous occasion by giving an impromptu impersonation of Marion Mitchell Morrison – better known to his fans as acting legend John Wayne.
By the following morning, the tribute had switched to Marlon Brando in The Wild One. Nice.
Congrats to Derek – or should we say, “YEEHAR!“? – on becoming Greystones’ new sheriff.
Here’s to an exciting, adventure-packed and possibly smoke-filled year ahead…
