My Bestest Christmas EVER!

ven if you’re the very grumpiest of Grinches, you’d have to admit that Christmas can be a magical time…

All it takes is a little faith. In your fellow man. In love.

And in simply recognising that, hey, it’s good to be alive.

Christmas is a time of year when you should be able to strip away all the bells and whistles of modern living and just get back in touch with that childhood wonder. That time when you truly believed.

In magic. In Santa. In your parents being smart enough to get what you really, really want this year.

It’s a sense memory that can stay with you forever, especially if you let it, and it means that, as we get older, Christmas Eve often has the bigger, sweeter kick than Christmas Day itself.

There’s something about the endless possibilities in that build-up to Christmas Day, those childhood memories sparkling and flickering at the back of your mind, as you recall the sense of a whole year’s worth of growing – all that running, and falling, and climbing, and just getting on with it – is about to held up to the light and celebrated.

To help us all reconnect to that inner childhood Christmas feeling, each year since 2016, we’ve been asking a wide cross-section of Greystonians – young & old, hip & square, pretty & pretty ugly – if they ever got a present growing up that made them exclaim, ‘Finally, Santa, you got it right!‘…?
