My Greystones: Sherron St Clair

Sherron and on, and on…

herron St Clair is one of those beautiful people who actually look younger than their kids.

Which, given that the youngest is only 14, is one heck of an achievement.

Then again, that’s what you get for being a dancer. And spending all your time hanging out with Mother Nature. And smiling all the feckin’ time.

The body and soul behind 5Rhythms, Sherron has somehow managed to bring four strapped young men into the world (Shaman, Ysra, Khai and Indi, aged 14 to 26), and yet maintain a teenage lust for life.

Dammit, I hate it when hippies get it right.

Having been raised by an Irish woman, and with a bloodline going back to the oul’ sod quite a few generations, by her own reckoning, it was pretty much inevitable that Sherron St Clair would end up living here. Arriving on Planet Eire 22 years ago, moving from Waterford – where she co-founded the Spraoi festival – to a biodynamic community in Inisglas for three yeas, before the call of the Wicklow Hills became just too darn strong. Life up in Laragh was blissful for a full 15 years before the South Beach finally seduced Sherron and her family.

The move was an easy one, given that Sherron had spent many years swinging down to Nature’s Gold, The Happy Pear and, in those early years, Scuffils’ monthly swingers parties.

And now, Greystones is that little bit groovier just by having Sherron in our gang. Here’s hoping we can figure out her fountain of youth trick. Really hope it’s poitín.
