y Lovely Horse Rescue was started in 2011 by sisters Martina and Deborah Kenny along with pop songstress Cathy Davey.

The name coming from Cathy’s other half, Neil Hannon of The Divine Comedy, who provided silly songs and the theme tune to Father Ted.

Over the years, they have taken care of hundreds of horses, goats, donkeys, dogs, cats and pigs, with Davey gradually concentrating on the latter at her Kildare farm whilst the sisters take care of the rest at theirs.

They do incredible work and now a venue in Wicklow is putting on an afternoon to raise funds for My Lovely Horse Rescue as well as Oxfam.

Happening on Sunday, October 27th from 2pm to 5pm at The Wicklow Escape in Donard, we’re talking pre-loved wedding fashion, an Adopt-A-Dog catwalk and a Craft Your Own Wedding Ring. Along with a host of other experts involved in making The Big Day small on stress.

It’s €30 per couple, and you’ll not only get a grand day out – and some fine ideas if you’re heading to the altar – but you’ll be doing a whole lot of good too.
