My Lunches With Elvis #23: Tall Boy Toasties

You’re going down – WAY DOWN…!

he weather was much kinder for the second return visit of The King on his 2021 Comeback Special tour.

And the fact that Des at Tall Boy Toasties had an Elvis Peanut Butter & Banana Special with Alan’s name on it made this a very sunny visit indeed.

It also gave us a chance to jump back to our old foodie review series My Lunches With Elvis, the last being fire-baked pizza up at Bak’d At Arthurs up in Belmont Demesne way, way back in November 2019.

“It feels good to be back in Greystones,” says Alan, with his Corkonian companion, Grainne, by his side. “This is my second home. After Gracelands, of course…”

That there were a few impromptu bursts of singing by passers-by – Proud Mary blending into Suspicious Minds, It’s Now Or Never and then Can’t Help Falling In Love With You – and some old friends stopping for a chat and a quick photo meant that Elvis was as happy as a clambake in that midday sun. 

Add to that yet another free lunch, and sure, is it any wonder young Adamson was smiling from sideburn to sideburn?

With plans to return to Greystones every month or so from his new Tipperary home, Alan has rarely looked healthier – or felt happier.

“I’m very blessed right now,” he says, “living a very healthy life down in Tipperary. I have everything I want down there. Except for Greystones, of course…

Still, given that he’s a man of refined culinary tastes, before he jumped back into his chauffeur-driven Ford Tiago, we had one question left to ask Elvis…
