Thursday, April 16th 2026…The N11/M11 Bus Priority Interim Scheme (N11/M11 BPIS) is progressing as a multi-authority project involving Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), the National Transport Authority (NTA), Wicklow County Council (WCC) and Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council (DLRCC).
Under a Section 85 Agreement, Wicklow County Council are acting as the Lead Local Authority and Sponsoring Agency of the project. Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) is acting as the Approving Authority. Kildare National Roads Office (KNRO) have been appointed to project manage the delivery of the scheme in accordance with the TII Project Management Guidelines (PMG).
The N11/M11 national road is the primary artery connecting Dublin to the southeast of the country and from its connection to the M50 Motorway, the N11/M11 route forms part of Trans- European Transport Network (TEN-T) route E01, linking the Greater Dublin Area (GDA) 
to Rosslare Europort.
to Rosslare Europort.Following the publication of the Phase 2 Options Selection Report on 10th April 2025 (see www.n11m11bpis.ie), TII granted approval in June 2025 to progress the N11/M11 BPIS project from PMG Phase 2 to Phase 3. A tendering process commenced for Technical Consultancy Services for Phase 3 and 4, with Ove Arup & Partners Ireland Ltd t/a Arup being appointed as Technical Advisors for these phases on 16th January 2026.

Would it not make more sense to extend Luas to bray Luas/Dart interchange, dual tracks to Bray from arklow to bray. Many more Luas could be running. One every 15 minutes max at the moment. Could be one every three minutes to take more passengers out of cars and into work.
Full Metro to all areas is the only way to provide an efficient transport system for the greater Dublin area. It’s already at least a generation late, so when will they learn that buses will never, ever meet our transport needs!
Starting this now, after they upgraded the surface and road marking last year. That was probably another waste of tax payers money.
The road needs to be upgraded in line with the population growth. People will not use infrequent, unreliable bus services that only cater to the city center. They should instead look at services that will link and upgrade major reliable public transport ( dart and luas) both of which run on electricity rather than diesel buses.
