July 18th 2026…On Saturday 8th of August at 3pm Newtown United FC will take on the mighty Shamrock Rovers and their in a battle of the legends in the Matt Kelly Community Grounds.
This is just the start of an amazing day as that evening there will be a gala evening in the stunning Parkview Hotel Newtwown.
We’ve just gotten started as we’re delighted to announce that Liverpool and Republic of Ireland heroes Ronnie Whelan and Steve Staunton are event ambassadors and will be at the big game, answering questions alongside Shamrock Rovers legends Mick and Pat Byrne in an evening hosted by RTE’s Alan Cawley.
The game itself will showcase Newtown’s players from their historic first treble winning season and squad, defeating Shelbourne in 2015 to the present, whilst Rovers have a star-studded squad which includes current gaffer Stephen Bradley and a whole host of 
League of Ireland legends.
