Irish Rail’s Lost Weekends 2026

ard to keep up with all the weekend Irish Rail works around here without going mildly bonkers… 

And just to prove the point, every Bank Holiday weekend in 2025 saw rail works cut off our town.

You can read why Irish Rail like choosing our long weekends for their major works here, but they may have heard our cries of anguish. The summer seems clear.

On April 4th to 6th, there will be overhead line renewal, retaining wall renewal and platform works from Connolly to Dun Laoghaire, whilst on May 30th to June 1st, it’s Connolly to Bray for track renewal and retaining wall works.

On September 12th and 13th, it’s Dun Laoghaire to Greystones for overhead line renewal and coastal defence works, and the same again on October 3rd and 4th.

On October 24th to 26th, it’s Grand Canal Dock to Bray for bridge renewal, track renewal, retaining wall works and platform works, and on November 28th and 29th, it’s the same stretch of rail, this time for track renewal, points and crossing renewal and level crossing resurfacing.

Rosslare services will operate to and from Bray. Direct bus transfers will operate to/from Connolly-Bray and Dun Laoghaire-Bray to connect with Rosslare service at Bray.

Dublin Bus and Go-Ahead Ireland will accept valid rail tickets on services between closed stations.
