“Trained to be a guide dog right from day one, helping those less fortunate than ourselves find their way in this crazy world. Very noble, very good for the soul, and all that, but then, after a year and a half, I got that calling.
“It was Sue, the woman here, and, man, was I glad she called. I was out of there like a flash, and off to Greystones. I admire the hell out of those dogs who commit their lives to helping others, but, you know what, that’s just not for me. I much prefer running down the South Beach like a loon, all the way to that river at Ballygannon – and I’m just not sure that many blind people would be able to keep up.
“Thankfully, Sue can keep up. Just about. The two of us are inseparable, to be honest. We live in a great place, and we have a great life together here in Greystones.
“I’m just one of those dogs lucky enough to find their guide person.”
