Oisin’s Charity Teddy Hits Tesco Shelves

hen he was younger, 12-year-old Greystones lad Oisin wouldn’t go anywhere without his Tesco Christmas teddy, Cedric.

Oisin would even sneak cuddly buddy into school, such was their bond.

So, when Oisin wrote to Tesco suggesting that their next charity teddy for their annual Children’s Health Foundation fundraiser could be Simon The Sloth, he knew just how much these little furry little friends can mean to a child.

And just to prove to Tesco that he was quite serious about his suggestion, the budding Greystones toy maker even included a drawing of his new creation.

That Simon The Sloth would end up sitting on a shelf not only at Tesco Greystones but branches of the retail monolith all around the county is something the sloth-obsessed Oisin still can’t quite believe.

“I just thought it would be nice for the children to have the chance I had with Cedric,” he says. “I really wanted this to happen but, I also can’t quite believe that it has happened. If that makes sense…”

What may have clinched the deal was one simple pitch from Oisin to the supermarket giant.

“Most of the teddies are made and designed by grown ups from Tesco,” he states, “but this one stands out as it was made by a kid.”
