As the organisers say, Wicklow Sings Festival is a fun, community singing festival which celebrates and showcases the diversity of singing groups in County Wicklow from singing for health groups, children’s choirs, school choirs, barbershop, gospel choirs and male voice choirs to chamber groups, community choirs and choral societies.
The festival marked its 10th anniversary yesterday with a landmark lineup of 12+ choirs, a singing workshop for primary school children, and the welcome return of partial funding from the Arts Council.
Established in 2016, Wicklow Sings has become one of County Wicklow’s most beloved community arts events, a non-competitive, inclusive celebration of group singing that brings together choirs from across the county every spring. A decade on, the festival remains entirely volunteer-run, and the spirit that launched it is very much alive.
“Reaching ten years is a real milestone for Wicklow Sings,” says Dara MacMahon, artistic director of the Wicklow Sings committee. “This festival has always been about community, giving choirs a stage, giving audiences something to look forward to, and keeping the tradition of group singing alive in Wicklow. We’re incredibly proud of how far it’s come, and it was an honour to mark
the occasion with a Wicklow Sings that reflects everything the event stands for.”
The concert at Temple Carrig School was once again the highlight of the day, boasting a diverse programme spanning community choirs, gospel, chamber groups, school ensembles, and children’s choirs and culminating in the massed singing finale that has become the festival’s signature moment.
Choirs appearing at Wicklow Sings 2026 were:
• Unity Gospel Choir
• Wicklow Parkinson Choir
• Serendipity
• Avondale Voices
• Bella Voce
• Wicklow Singers
• Temple Carrig School Choir
• St Patricks National School Choir
• Greystones Community College Choir
• Get Singing Choir
• The Sound Crowd
• Baltinglass Sings
“Wicklow Sings has always been a community effort, and that’s exactly what makes it special,” added Dara. “It was great to see such a big turnout for our 10th year, people just being part of something that truly belongs to Wicklow.”
