Planning Refused For Honeybrook Cottage

t’s a planning application that send more than a few shockwaves through Delgany village.

And quite a few expletives too, of course.

Having first knocked on Wicklow Planning’s door in January this year only to find his application was incomplete, and after a second flawed attempt on June 7th, Honeybrook Cottage owner Desmond Donegan finally got his ts crossed and his is dotted in July.

And now, Wicklow Planning have refused his application to demolish the 18th century cottage to make way for 3 retail and office units alongside 9 residential units.

We’ll be hearing from Delgany Community Council on their latest common sense preservation triumph later today but in the meantime, Cllr Stephen Stokes was early to the party this morning, telling the Guide, “This is an important decision. Delgany and many other areas are under intense pressure, and the planning decision acknowledged that the proposed development would have had a detrimental visual impact on the special character of Delgany village.”
