Only trouble is when it comes to Greystones is exactly where that Teddy’s van parks. And for how long.

And for how long.We addressed this last year, as local businesses raised their concerns about a rival ice cream vendor taking a prime location pretty much at checkout on Greystones harbour, and subsequently hoovering up all the sunny-day passing trade.
Despite the fact that Teddy’s weren’t paying a penny in rates. Or getting the nod from Greystones Municipal District Council.
Nope, Teddy’s are setting up shop courtesy of the near-legendary hit-and-run developers Sispar, who, way back in 2008, signed a mildly ridiculous 30-year contract with Wicklow County Council to renovate and largely run Greystones harbour. Which means that, when it comes to our much-loved seafront haven, Sispar is the fat kid who owns the ball right up to 2038.
And we all have to play by their rules.
The problem is, even their rules would appear to be bending out of shape when it comes to the iconic Teddy’s. Contractually, no commercial entities are allowed to park right at the harbour square but are apparently limited to either the car park space between the two Marina Village apartment blocks or the tarmac space at the northern end of the marina.
Further, any commercial entities setting up shop on Greystones harbour can only do so for a maximum of 30 days in any given year. And never more than 14 days in a row.

We’ve also been told by another that they counted Teddy’s down at the harbour for 73 days last year.

Nothing like a bit of healthy (sic) competition to keep chip shop traders on their toes!
Hopefully our village organ will sample Teddy’s wares for consideration in the prestigious Best 99 competition!
Eh, have you read the article? Nothing about street trading in the town being a problem. Sispar having their own little town inside a town is the problem.
