The Sugar Club on Lesson Street was the venue of choice for the MLR 2023 awards where Greystones cafe Rise at the Cove scooped up the award for Best Social Enterprise of the year 2023.

The organisers and sponsors behind the awards night is the massively successful active wear clothing brand GYM + COFFEE who’s slogan is Make Life Richer (MLR) and they were there to honour those individuals, companies, Gyms and Social Entreprises who Make Life Richer for others and who live and breathe community.

Accepting the award on stage was Tigin’s CEO and Co-founder Phil Thompson, who dedicated the award to those who are not in as fortunate a circumstance as those receiving the awards.

“Life is tough for many people right now,” he said. “We are privileged to be here. This award is dedicated to the 12,000 homeless people in Ireland today and to the thousands who have come to this country in search of safety and refuge.

“Taking this award home tonight would not be possible without the community of Greystones, the amazing staff at Rise at the Cove and Gavin Murphy, a great manager and mentor to those who work at the cafe.”
