Running Up That Cill Chomhgaill

There were plenty of high emotions and sore feet at the Kilcoole Athletic Club’s 50th birthday bash over in Parkview last night.

Having inspired many a local to get fit, stay fit and maybe even win the odd race or two, Kilcoole AC has long been an integral part of the town.

And that was reflected last night, as the great and the good came out to celebrate belonging to such an all-inclusive, all-ages and, by the looks of it, all-abilities club.

That there were so many young people in attendance reflected the fact that the Kilcoole Athletics Club is still going strong, after all these years,

And fair play to Billy Cooke of Grattan Park for providing last night’s party with a gallery of old photographs dating back to the club’s early years.

Capturing all the fun and games last night was the bould Gerry Kelly and, as ever, the Guide’s #1 roving photographer, John McGowan.

Not sure what we – or Greystones – would do without this great man…
