Showdown At Greystones Sailing Club

e rarely take the low road here at GG HQ, always searching instead for the brighter, funnier side to every crazy story in this fecked-up town of ours…

When it came to our little dig at the Greystones Sailing Club on May 1st for, you know, refusing again and again to go out on a date with us – after five months of asking – well, we may have gotten it wrong.

But only very, very slightly. Because here at GG HQ, we never get it fully wrong. Ever.

Still, we were more than excited and very much delighted when head honchos David Nixon and Daragh Cafferkey (son of co-founder, Dermod) invited us to swing by the club this evening, Friday, May 13th 2016. We just had one rule for the hook-up – no knives.

So, we brought a gun and a bat.

The big occasion is the opening of the sailing club bar, and it was all hands on deck as everyone scurried around, making sure that everything was spick and agus span for the big night.

It’s a beautiful club, to be sure, to be sure, with the best goddamn view in the whole of Greystones. Everywhere you look, just gorgeous deep blue sea and gorgeous big blue sky, bookended by Bray Head and beyond on one side, and The Cove on the other. Pretty much heaven, in other words. And the perfect spot for a sailing club.

David and Daragh were keen to point out that it’s all systems go, now that they’ve fully moved into their new club, and they’ve got the ever-growing members list to prove it.
