Sudbury School Falling Through The CracksOctober 28, 2019
Given just how psychedelic many of the patterns on these quilts are, you really have to wonder what sort of medication the Scouting Sisters gang are on.
And if all of those medications are proper and above the counter.
Jaysus, walking through the doors of the Scout’s Den for this year’s annual quilts exhibition, you’re immediately hit by the colours! The shapes! The loops! The pandas! The cats! The void! The sheer kaleidoscopic craziness of it all, man!
Yep, Joan and co have undone themselves this year, with a technicolour display of quilts that could have Keith Richards hypnotised for at least 5 weeks.
Throw in the woolly, crocheted cardigans, and those cuddly teddy bears, and sure, it’s awful tempting to find a quiet corner and just curl up for an afternoon nap.
Which is what may very well have drawn old man McGowan down this afternoon, with his trusty Kodak Instamatic, his flask of hot chocolate and his special pipe.
Congats not only to Joan Jones but to all the exhibitors – Deirdre Kinsella, Deirdre Kearney, Michelle Keane, Mary Killilea, Helen Smullen, Saragh Ward, Sandra Pegman, Geraldine Kelly, Marie Hannon and Joan Kiernan.
Closing Monday, October 28th, you can catch this fine exhibition from 10am to 5.30pm. In the meantime, full gallery of John McGowan’s shots here.
