The feckers having won the title every single year thus far, it wasn’t all that surprising when we counted up the Póg Mo Cone 2020 votes to discover that Something Nice are once again the champions, my friend.
Pete and Susan clearly know what they’re doing when it comes to 99s – and all things gelato – and the good people of Greystones know it.
That said, there were some strong contenders for the crown this year, with Spendlove’s coming in a not-too-distant second and new kid on the block, The Village Store, clearly having their fans too.
Heck, even 8-year-old Ava and 6-year-old Cora [left] got votes, thanks to their rather sumptuous, mouthwatering and homemade creations.
In the end though, the one with the most votes was Something Nice, and we swung down there this afternoon with Enda from Dres Properties – the generous sponsors of this year’s competition – to give Susan and Pete their just desserts.
Well done to all those who were part of the competition – we really arespoilt for choicewhen it comes to ice cream around here, and even moreso whenGino’s Gelatosopen in late July/early August – and a big thank you to all those who voted.
Talking of which, congrats to Kim Shanley, who, thanks to our Randomizer 3000, came out as the voting winner of 20 free 99s at Something Nice. Probably best not to get them all on one visit though…
You can find out more about Something Nice here, about DRES Properties right here, and check out the latter’s Eastmount homes in Greystones here.
