Swanky New Charity Shop For De Town

iven that the French designer Vincent de Paul has one of the most popular shops in town, the arrival of another charity shop will no doubt be welcomed with open bags.

Because even though we’re all millionaires, we loves ourselves a tidy bargain.

And the fact that this new Greystones business doesn’t serve coffee may even result in a blue plaque.

With the fit-out starting tomorrow, Vision Ireland are taking over Jennifer Whitmore’s old HQ – the firebrand TD having moved upstairs – and they plan to have their latest ReLoved shop opening on Hillside Road in late March.

With over 130 stores across the country, this 94-year-old charity covers not only pre-loved clothes but furniture and accessories too – being ‘proud to play a part in promoting environmentally-friendly practices through reusing and recycling’.

Fair fecks. Now, a little history…

The National Council for the Welfare of the Blind of Ireland was set up on March 10th, 1931, the first voluntary body founded in Ireland dealing with a disability group. It became the National Council of Blind Ireland in April 1935, establishing its first permanent HQ in 1987, in what was the Drumconda Hospital in Dublin 9.

The stated goal of Vision Ireland is to enable people who are blind or vision-impaired to overcome the barriers that impede their independence and participation in society.
