For Eimear Coffey, hitting a low point made her realise the importance of recognising the good from the bad in her own life – and concentrating on embracing and enhancing the former. A realisation that led her to a whole new career.

“There I was, a single mum, battling cancer, trying to bring up my special needs son,” she explains, “and it dawned on me that I couldn’t control everything that might happen in my life, but I could control how I dealt with it.

“It’s a cliche but, realising just how much is great about this world can flip everything over to a sunny side. And having been there and back, I decided it would be great to help others get to that sunny side too…”

And so Eimear headed off to Kingstown College and got herself a Professional Diploma in Coaching & Mentoring.

“And to think it all started with a WhatsApp group I formed, The Pink Room,” laughs Eimear. “Now I’m doing one-on-one sessions here at The Blue Zone in Charlesland every Thursday, and online Monday to Wednesday. And I love it…”

Being in The Blue Zone also gives Eimear a chance to catch up on all the latest gossip with her sister, Niamh, who runs her physiotherapy clinic from there too.

“It’s incredibly rewarding, being able to help others,” finishes Eimear, “because I know what it’s like to feel lost and unsure about tomorrow. And I know what it’s like to find yourself, and have fun again.
