The Long Road Home

ndrea Splendori is a hard man to keep up with, and to pin down.

One minute, he’s organising a mental health fun run to Galway, the next it’s an open mic for teens down at The Hot Spot.

One minute the lad’s interviewing the likes of the Flynnstones, Vyvienne Long, Reggie Corrigan and Bressie for his podcast, the next he’s coaching people on how to reach that field situated just behind right and wrong.

Or thereabouts.

When we met up this afternoon at The Bitter Lemon, we both  reckoned it was best to concentrate on just the two most projects currently on Andrea’s big plate. Namely, his return to Carraig Eden this Friday for Tiglin’s second sleepout to help out, and Andrea’s latest live outing at The Whale for his Social Fabric podcast, on Friday, February 17th.

The former is all about tackling the taboos surrounding homelessness; the latter (entitled From Couch To Eternity and featuring guests Emmet Dunleavy, René Berg and founding director of the Insight Centre for Data Analytics, Prof Barry Smyth)) examines the great divide between those who are obsessed with running, and those who would much, much rather stand still for their thrills. So, two subjects with pretty much no shared DNA.

Which may explain why our latest ramble chat was pretty dang heavy on the rambling…
